Thermo Fisher Scientific, a global leader in serving science, provides a vast range of analytical, clinical, diagnostic, life science instruments and laboratory equipment. I was tasked with designing the user experience for their 3D Product Tours, which would allow customers to view and interact with the various machines. These included the Vanquish HPLC & UPLC Systems, Invitrogen Power Blotter System, Orbitrap Astral Mass Spectrometer 3D Tour and more. By leveraging immersive 3D technology, we aimed to enhance customer engagement and provide a comprehensive understanding of these complex instruments.
Enhance customer engagement by creating an interactive 3D experience for customers.
Provide comprehensive understanding of the intricate details and functionalities of the different systems.
The primary challenge was to effectively communicate the intricate details and functionalities of the sophisticated systems, which are composed of multiple components. Traditional methods, such as static images and text descriptions, were inadequate for capturing the full scope of these instruments. We needed a solution that would enable users to explore the systems in a detailed, interactive manner, making it easier for them to grasp the capabilities and benefits of the products. Additionally, we aimed to simplify the process for customers to pinpoint issues with their existing instruments and communicate with customer service teams about parts that might need replacement.
The 3D Product Tours design solution prioritized user engagement and comprehension, featuring interactive elements for opening and closing compartments, 360-degree rotation for detailed examination, and embedded multimedia content for key features and functionalities. These enhancements streamlined the exploration process, empowering users to interact with and understand the Vanquish Core HPLC System and Vanquish Flex UHPLC System with ease.
Key features of the solution included:
Users could rotate the instruments 360 degrees, providing a complete view of each system. This feature allowed for a thorough examination of all components.
The ability to open and close various compartments gave users a hands-on experience, simulating real-world interactions.
Each tour included videos and images that highlighted key features and functionalities, offering a rich, multimedia experience.
Users could build their own instrument configurations by selecting different modules and detectors. This customization feature helped users understand how to tailor the systems to their specific needs.
A direct link to sales representatives was provided, allowing users to easily inquire about the broad portfolio of HPLC/UHPLC systems, modules, and detectors.
The Thermo Fisher Scientific 3D Product Tours transformed how customers learn and interact with the various systems and laboratory equipment. By providing an engaging, self-guided experience, we significantly enhanced user engagement and facilitated a deeper understanding of these complex instruments. This innovative approach has set a new standard for product demonstrations in the biotech industry, effectively combining detailed technical information with an engaging user experience.
Thermo Fisher Scientific continues to lead the way in serving the scientific community, offering a comprehensive suite of products and solutions that drive innovation and discovery. This project further solidified their reputation as a leader in providing cutting-edge tools and resources to scientists and researchers worldwide.
